The Directorate of Training and Doctrine (DOTD) held its annual Fun Day to foster team bonding and boost morale for members of DOTD and their families on June 7 at Butner Field.
DOTD Instructional Systems Specialist Shannon Halvorson helped organize the event and attended with her husband and 14-year-old son.
“I think my number one goal was for everybody to enjoy themselves,” Halvorson said, “build team relationships, be able to talk about things outside of work.”
The event featured a wide array of activities designed to engage attendees of all ages and interests. A giant game of Connect 4 and a game of cornhole occupied some attendees while children spent ample time in the bouncy house.
Event attendees also organized games of kickball and softball. Family members relaxed in lawn chairs, enjoying drinks and snacks, as they watched from the sidelines.
Another highlight of the day was a car show, where personnel proudly displayed their sports and vintage cars.
With a turnout of more than 150, Air Defense Enlisted Division Chief and DOTD Director of Training John Gaskin has high hopes and new ideas for future Fun Day events.
“I would like to integrate more Fort Sill organizations to do a competitive event or to do a collaborative event,” Gaskin said.
