RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany – The implementation of the Military Health Systems GENESIS is set to bring significant changes to the military health care system in Europe and within the Kaiserslautern Military Community in September 2023.

MHS GENESIS serves as a centralized Department of Defense electronic health record system for service members and their families. This means that individuals will no longer need to transfer their medical records for each permanent change of station. Instead, their new primary care manager will have access to their medical history through MHS GENESIS.

The implementation of MHS GENESIS is aimed to improve the coordination and continuity of care across military treatment facilities. Healthcare providers now have access to patients' medical histories and treatment plans, leading to more accurate and efficient care.

MHS GENESIS serves as a single health record for service members, veterans, and their families, ensuring that their medical history remains accessible no matter where they are stationed. The MHS GENESIS online portal will be replacing the Tricare Online Patient Portal and the secure messaging system.

Overall, the switch to MHS GENESIS is expected to enhance the quality of healthcare services provided to service members and their families by improving access to medical records and streamlining the healthcare system's operations. The MHS GENESIS will be active September 23 on Ramstein and throughout all of Europe.
