Task Force Southern Castle, the 168th Engineer
Brigade, has been officially attached to Task Force
Spartan, the 28th Infantry Division, and the U.S.
Army Central Command.
The transfer of authority ceremony was held at
the MWR Theater at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, on
March 31, 2023. The theater was filled with tons of
green suitors. All coming together to support the
two brigades as one passes the torch and the other
carries it forward. Transfer of authority ceremonies
are significant to both the incoming and outgoing
units. It's a ceremony that signifies the start of
a new mission for the incoming unit while the
outgoing unit is relieved of duty.
Task Force Iron Castle, the 926th Engineer
Brigade, distinguished themselves during the
period of July 21, 2022, to March 31, 2023, under
the leadership of Col. Ken Shurbet and Command
Sgt. Maj. John Pisano, while providing engineering
operations at over 30 locations in seven countries
throughout the Southwest Asia region. The 926th
Engineer Brigade served as the senior engineer
headquarters for the United States Army Central,
supporting "Operation Spartan Shield and Inherent
Resolve, which is a pretty significant deal in theater.
The bar has been set high with the 926th
Engineer Brigade departing the theater. It is
evident that the 168th Engineer Brigade will
adjust to the pace of the mission with no problem
here in Southwest Asia, given that the unit is
no stranger to the area. Serving on numerous
campaigns, including "Operation Enduring
Freedom" (Afghanistan) and "Operation Enduring
Freedom" (Iraq), the 168th Engineer Brigade
is highly confident and prepared to assume its
responsibilities as the theater engineer brigade.
Task Force Southern Castle assumed authority
and operational control over the 107th Engineer
Battalion, the 207th EOD, the 871st EFD, the 903rd
FEST-A, and the 348th FEST-A. The 168th Engineer
Brigade continues to carry the torch forward
and build partnerships with our host nations by
providing engineering capabilities throughout
the United States Army Central Command area of
responsibility.
