1st Lieutenant Kendale McFarland, Budget Officer at the 179th Airlift Wing, Mansfield, Ohio, was recently awarded the 2022 Financial Management Officer of the Year award. The Financial Management Officer of the Year award is selected by the National Guard Bureau Financial Management leadership and is presented to the top budget officer among the 94 Air National Guard Wings in the United States.

As the Budget Officer, Mcfarland’s responsibilities are to provide decision support to base leadership allowing for the proper, legal, and efficient execution of funding in order to move the mission forward. When asked about the most rewarding part of his position, McFarland stated, “Having the opportunity to network with people in a wide range of career fields and the ability to travel all over the country helping others is icing on the cake”.
