SOUTH MITROVICA, Kosovo – The Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) team hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony, at the Resource Center for Teaching and Counseling “Mother Teresa” (Nёna Terezё School for Children with Disabilities), for the presentation of a new backup generator for the school, by Kosovo Force (KFOR)’s Regional Command-East(RC-E), on Nov. 9, 2022, in South Mitrovica, Kosovo.

The center provides many resources for its students, including but not limited to: education of students with special needs and learning disabilities, traveling teachers who have specialized focus in the areas that the school provides and free transportation for all students attending classes.

“Despite the differences in our backgrounds, we all share a common goal of promoting the well-being of our youth, and we all understand the importance of supporting them,” said Col. Chris Mabis, KFOR RC-East commander.

The generator donation as a part of the KFOR mission will help provide the students and faculty with a warm and secure location to learn in the winter.

“Through continued dialogue, we can build trust as we work to improve the communities in Kosovo,” said Mabis. “I want to thank the people here for discussing their concerns with KFOR and encouraging the process to continue.”

The center provides these services for 10 municipalities in the region and is responsible for the implementation of Inclusive Education.
KFOR RC-East comprises ten contributing NATO partner nations. Its mission is to maintain a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all communities in Kosovo, as mandated by the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999.
