KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea-- The Wolf Pack Chapel Corps held its inaugural Clergy Day, bringing together various religious leaders from all over the peninsula, Nov. 8, 2022.
"The goal of this historical clergy event is to establish a lasting friendship between USAF, ROKAF, and local religious leaders that make Gunsan City a wonderful community to live, work and worship,” said Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Joshua Payne, 8th Fighter Wing chaplain.
As a part of the Comprehensive Airman Fitness model, an Airman’s spiritual pillar plays a role in keeping them fit-to-fight. If members were to need spiritual support during wartime events, many local spiritual leaders who were present at the event--to include Buddhist, Protestant and other religions--would know how to provide that support.
The event included a visit from Chaplain (COL) Chul W. Kim, U.S. Forces Korea and United Nations Command chaplain, who gave his remarks during the luncheon.
“This [event] is a way to build a partnership with you and is integral for the spiritual health of our [personnel],” said Lee. “If our Soldiers are fit-to-fight, but they’re spiritually weak, their weakest link will break them.”
The event concluded with a base tour to help the visiting clergy understand how the Wolf Pack sustains their “fight tonight” posture and provides protection to the Korean peninsula.
“Thank you for taking the time in your busy schedule for this historical event,” Kim said thanking the clergy. “You are the starting block and I hope we have more events like these to build upon and better help those who defend the nation.”
