    910th Airlift Wing

For the first time, Airmen from the 910th Airlift Wing participated in the Wings-n-Wheels fly-in and car show, Aug. 6-7, 2022, at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. The event had more than 100 different aircraft on display with several open for guests to tour inside.

The 910th AW displayed a C-130H Hercules, two firetrucks and a security forces patrol car. The 911th Airlift Wing flew in a C-17 Globemaster III from Pittsburgh Air Reserve Station, Pennsylvania. Airmen from both the 910th and the 911th interacted with thousands of people attending the event over the weekend. Inside the airport terminal, Youngstown Air Reserve Station had booths representing public affairs, recruiting and aircrew flight equipment from the operations support squadron.

Due to mission priorities, the C-17 Globemaster has been flying in local air space and the local community will continue to see the aircraft in the future. Col. John Boccieri, 911th AW vice wing commander, thought the event would be a great opportunity for people in the area to tour the aircraft and ask questions to the Airmen who maintain and fly the C-17 Globemaster.

Senior Master Sgt. Bob Barko Jr., 910th AW superintendent of public affairs, staffed the public affairs booth at the event.

“This is the first time since our 2017 Thunder Over the Valley Airshow that the Airmen of the 910th AW had the opportunity to interact with the public at a large event,” said Barko. “We always enjoy the opportunity to share our mission with the community outside of our gate. The public especially enjoyed getting an up-close look at the C-17 Globemaster from our sister unit in Pittsburgh, since it has been flying in our local airspace.”
