    505th Signal Brigade

TRAVIS AFB, Fairfield – Led by 2nd Lt. Dylon Sheffer, 812th Signal Company, Tactical Installation Network-Enhanced, Detachment 1 commander, Soldiers, friends and families from this signal company filled the Delta Breeze Club to conduct a deployment ceremony at Travis Air Force Base, Fairfield, Ca., September 10, 2022.

The 812th Sig. Co. TIN-E, Det. 1’s mission is to provide cable support to military installations around the country and overseas as needed. During this deployment they will support the 54th Signal Battalion. Their area of operation will be throughout all of the Central Command (CENTCOM), so they will be completing a wide variety of work orders that are assigned to them.

“My ultimate goal is to bring all my Soldiers home safe. Then, I want to complete our mission to the best of our abilities,” said 2nd Lt. Sheffer. “I asked my Soldiers what they hope to accomplish, and they responded that they want to provide mentorship to the younger Soldiers, complete military schools online, and continue their civilian education.”

On a beautiful Californian day, the weather was perfect as the sunny day welcomed dozens of family members, wives, husbands, fathers, mothers, and children of all ages, who came to bid their loved ones’ farewell and good luck, filling the ballroom.

Special guests included Lt. Col. Stephanie Lee, 319th Battalion commander, Col. (R) Richard Stage, California Army Reserve Ambassador, Command Sgt. Maj. Russell Price, 335th Signal Command command sergeant major, and Command Sgt. Maj. James Milligan, 505th Signal Brigade command sergeant major.

In Col. (R) Stage’s remarks, who had deployed three times down range as a Civil Affairs officer, he wished the Soldiers who were deploying good luck, but he spoke more to the families who had gathered. With personal experience, he knew that the families who were left in the rear also had a difficult job. They had to continue to pay bills and maintain a household. He told them to stay strong, knowing for Soldiers going overseas, leaving loved ones can be the hardest part.

“Our mission is important because of how crucial internet connectivity is in today's world. The Army needs to meet and exceed current internet capabilities,” said First Sgt. De Reza. “Everything from adding more connections to our facilities or increasing the network speed has immediate benefits to our Soldiers downrange.”

It should be remembered that the United States is still sending American service members into harm’s way and that these troops will be serving their country will honor. Second Lt. Sheffer, who is a junior officer but very professional, will lead 32 Soldiers on this deployment to Kuwait for nine months.

The 812th Signal Company, which is a subunit of the 319th Signal Battalion, was established in 1942 as part of the Regular Army.
