Future Sailors Take Oath of Enlistment

Navy Talent Acquisition Group Rocky Mountain

Future Sailors from Navy Talent Acquisition Group along with other military branches participated in the Colorado Rapids Military Appreciation Night held at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO Aug. 13.

During the opening of the game, Future Sailors along with other branches of military service walked onto the field carrying the ensign. The U.S. flag was unfrilled during the singing of the National Anthem sung by Senior Chief Petty Officer Kristy Locke.

At the games half time, Future Sailors and the other branches walked back onto the field with Coast Guardsman Capt. Jonathan Carter, chief of Enlisted Personnel Management, for their oath of enlistment.

"Watching my son, Hunter being deputized into the Navy at the Colorado Rapids soccer half-time game filled [his] parents with pride in [their] hearts and tears," Phone Vang, mother of a future Sailor said. "The oauth ceremony made us realize that we had supported and guided our son along is journey in order for him to be forged by the Navy as an adult."

The oath of enlistment is a promise to acknowledge their duty and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States and they will obey the orders of the President of the United States and all officers appointed over them.

The game concluded with Colorado Rapids tying Columbus Crew 1-1.

Navy Talent Acquisition Group Rocky Mountain's area of responsibility includes 33 Navy Recruiting Stations and Navy Officer Recruiting Stations throughout Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, South East, and Western Nebraska & Kansas.
