NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS (June 28, 2022) – Communities in Nueces County, Texas, received new roads and infrastructure thanks to Marine Corps Reserve Combat Logistics Regiment 45, Landing Support Company, Savannah, Ga.

The Marines deployed to Nueces County, Texas, outside Corpus Christi, as part of an Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) mission, from June 19 through June 30, 2022.
Innovative Readiness Training is a unique Department of Defense program that links community needs with military training requirements.

In this case, Nueces County requested assistance in civil engineering projects like these, and the Marine Corps Reserve required training to maintain proficiency in their combat roles. The result is that the Marines and Nueces County Public Works engaged in collaborative efforts, to pave roads, make stormwater drainage improvements, and render other civil engineering projects to result in significant cost savings for Nueces County.
Commissioner Joe A. Gonzalez of Nueces County Precinct Two, voiced his appreciation, saying “Our heartfelt thanks go out to our [Marines] who have provided their support and for this mission to be successful, saving Nueces County approximately 5 million in road construction with support of Nueces County Public Works.”

Marine Corps Sergeant William Grant “We’re happy to be out here training, improving our skills, and we just want to help out the community as much as we can while we’re here. ”In all, Nueces County gained an estimated 5 million dollars in value as part of this collaborative effort, and the Marines gained not only valuable training experience, but also made a lasting and impactful difference in Nueces County.
