USAWC student graduates early; assigned immediately to Europe

Faculty, staff, and seminar mates gathered in Will Washcoe Auditorium for Army Col. Richard ‘Ricky’ Taylor’s US Army War College graduation. While Taylor was originally supposed to graduate with the rest of the student body on June 10, he recently got notice that he was being sent to a new assignment in Europe.

“The Army really knew what they were doing when they selected you for this responsibility. They made a great decision to entrust you with this,” said USAWC Commandant Maj. Gen. David Hill during the early graduation event.

Taylor received his master’s degree in Strategic Studies. Taylor will take command of the 3rdBrigade, 82ndAirborne Division, in Poland, on May 28.

“The relationships I have built in my year here will prove useful in my career, as these are the people I will be working with. I now have a good relationship with all of them.

“I now know why we do the things that we do, and I look to further our mission at a strategic capacity,” said Taylor prior to the ceremony.

The class of 2022 will graduate on June 10, at 9 a.m. at the Wheelock Bandstand on Carlisle Barrack’s historic parade field. This year's graduating class consists of 222 Army officers, 10 Navy, 24 Air Force, 15 Marines, 1 Coast Guard, 2 Space Force, 24 Civilians, and 80 International Fellows from 75 countries.
