Welcome Chief Warrant Officer 5 Charles "Chuck" Sawyer to the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence as the senior warrant officer advisor to the deputy commanding general.

Sawyer comes to USAACE from the National Guard Bureau, where he served as a standardization officer, and also served with the aviation resource management team.

Sawyer is in his 38th year of service, his previous positions include standardization instructor pilot and command chief for the 38th Combat Aviation Brigade. Sawyer served two tours in Iraq.

An experience from his career that really stands out to him was the two and half years Sawyer spent training the Slovakian Air Force to fly the UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter, sharing his knowledge and preparing international aviators.

"I was one of those guys that joined for the college benefits and at some point patriotism kicked in," said Sawyer. "Through my time in service I have been fortunate enough to earn my bachelors degree and gain valuable leadership skills that will be used when my time in service is complete."
