Arctic Guardians of the Alaska Air National Guard’s 176th Wing will showcase a rescue aircraft during the Valdez Fly-In and Airshow May 14.
Aircrew from the 211th Rescue Squadron are scheduled to fly an HC-130J Combat King II to Pioneer Field in Valdez.
The Combat King is an extended-range version of the C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft. Its mission is to support personnel-recovery operations, which include airdrop, airland, helicopter air-to-air refueling and forward-area ground-refueling missions.
Personnel from the 176th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron will also be on hand to greet the public and answer questions.
“We have been looking forward to the Valdez Fly-In,” said Alaska Air National Guard Col. Joshua Armstrong, 176th Operations Group commander. “This is an incredible opportunity to network with our aviation partners and to share the mission of the 176th Wing.”
