MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. -- Cpl. Webster Rison’s three months of hard work and dedication paid off at the 2022 International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness Professional League Warrior Classic where he placed in multiple classes, April 30.
Rison, a combat graphics specialist stationed at Marine Corps Base Quantico, was one of 19 athletes who showcased the hard work and discipline required to achieve the most balanced physique at the Dominion Energy Center in Richmond, Virginia.
“One of the main reasons I continue to body build is the impact I have on the individuals around me and the standard I try to set for them,” said Rison, a Gainesville, Georgia native. “Whether it be the discipline, diet, or change of lifestyle that can last for years to come, we can always learn from each other in the sport.”
For years, Rison’s second home has been at the gym. However, in 2020, he started pursuing a professional bodybuilding lifestyle.
“Anytime I come to the gym, I always see him,” said Rison's close friend, Sgt. David Hamptonfurr, administrative specialist. “I’ve been wanting to watch him compete and it’s crazy to see him up there on the stage.”
Rison, a 2018 graduate of Gainesville High School, participates in bodybuilding to increase muscle longevity, strength, and maturity to determine potential limitations.
“Putting stress on the muscles is one of the best things you can do,” said Rison. “I just want to see how far I can take it.”
