Sailors from Camp Lemonnier delivered clothing, donated by Carter's, to villagers in need in District Seven, Nov. 6.

"My alma mater, Phillips Andover Academy's motto is Non Sibi, - not for self," said Cmdr. Robert Patrick, executive officer for Patrol Squadron 10, a native of Wakefield, Mass. "Each year the school organizes a Non Sibi Day, a day for students and alumni to participate in community service around the world. This year, it was Oct. 3."

Tom Beaton, a Phillips Andover Academy graduate and consultant with Next Step
LLC in Boston, previously did consulting for Carter's and contacted the Chief Executive Officer, Mike Casey, whose father once served in the U.S. Navy. After hearing about the Non Sibi Day's project, Casey offered to donate 10,000 units of children's clothing.

"This donation will make a positive impact for our troops, with fulfilling their peacekeeping mission, by helping so many in Djibouti," said Beaton. "I am honored to have played a tiny role, simply by connecting them."

William Carter founded Carter's, which sells clothing for babies and children, in 1865. The company appointed Casey as CEO on Aug. 1, 2008. Casey has been with the company for more than 16 years.

"We are very fortunate to be in a position to help," said Casey. "My dad was a sailor on a submarine chaser in World War II. He often said those were among the best days of his life. He would have been proud to know that we joined in helping children in need."

Service members are still delivering the 10,000 units of children's clothing through various organizations and orphanages throughout Djibouti. This delivery was one of many by service members assigned to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.
