    90th Missile Wing

The 90th Operations Support Squadron was awarded the Col. Lowell F. McAdoo Award thus capturing the title of the best Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Operations Support Squadron in Air Force Global Strike Command for the year 2020 at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming.

The 90 OSS earned the award by executing 364 nuclear orders, coordinating with five groups to enable 8,700 alert hours during the pandemic. They also aided in eight search and rescue operations, alerted 12 aircrews of visibility risks and drove a mission re-route saving 10 lives.

“The OSS team is absolutely vital to everything that happens at the wing,” said Col. Catherine Barrington, 90th Missile Wing commander. “You bring to life our vision to empower Airmen and drive innovation to be the world’s most trusted, dominant ICBM force.”

The 90 OSS is part of the 90th Operations Group, and includes the codes flight, weather flight, intelligence flight, emergency war order plans flight, weapons and tactics flight, scheduling flight, and host aviation management and squadron aviation resource management flight. Their team plays a critical role to control 15 missile alert facilities and 150 Minuteman III ICBMs across 9,600 square miles covering three states.

“Sometimes in the Air Force, we take for granted how unique our teams are,” said Command Chief Master Sgt. Nicholas Taylor, 90 MW. “Nothing gets done in the Air Force without teamwork … teamwork makes the dream work.”
