Ian MacDonald as the Service Person of the Quarter during a ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, Nov. 19, 2021. MacDonald, an ejection seat mechanic assigned to Marine Attack Squadron 542, was nominated through his leadership for his dedication to giving back to the local community. During the ceremony, MacDonald was also awarded the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. This medal is awarded to those who, “perform outstanding volunteer community service of a sustained direct and consequential nature.”
“With his limited time off, Corporal MacDonald has distinguished himself from the squadron volunteering over 216 hours this past year,” said Staff Sgt. Adam Donaghy, MacDonald’s staff noncommissioned officer. “This speaks volumes to his personal character, as well as his drive and dedication to help those in need in his community.”
