    405th Army Field Support Brigade - Europe & Africa

    KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany – The 405th Army Field Support Brigade conducted an awards ceremony at the brigade headquarters on Daenner Kaserne in Kaiserslautern Nov. 17 to recognize brigade personnel for exceptional achievement supporting Operation Allies Refuge and Operation Allies Welcome.

    The following personnel were awarded the Army Commendation Medal by the 405th AFSB commander, Col. Brad Bane, for their part supporting critical logistical efforts needed to assist more than 30,000 Afghan evacuees transitioning through the European theater during OAR and OAW:

    • Lt. Col. Alan Manzo
    • Maj. Jose Perez
    • Capt. Hollie Bedford
    • Capt. Joseph Friedman

    The following personnel were awarded the Army Achievement Medal by the 405th AFSB commander for their efforts supporting more than 30,000 Afghan evacuees transitioning through the European theater during OAR and OAW:

    • Capt. Ashley Dailey
    • Sgt. 1st Class Keisha Serieux

    The Civilian Service Achievement Medal was presented to Lawrence Torres, the 405th AFSB operations director, for his contributions and support to OAR and OAW, and a Commander’s Special Act Award in the amount of $2,500 was presented to Michael Johnson, 405th AFSB Logistics Civil Augmentation Program Europe forward planner, for his contributions and support to OAR and OAW. Johnson also received a certificate for 15 years of federal civilian service with the Army.
    Not present but also awarded for their contributions and efforts supporting OAR and OAW are:

    • Capt. Nicholas Candelmo
    • Sgt. 1st Class Samara Burnett
    • Staff Sgt. James Braxton

    Also recognized during the awards ceremony were Roselyn Atkins and Victor Martinez, who were both presented with the Civilian Service Commendation Medal by the 405th AFSB commander. Atkins was recognized for her five years of service with the 405th AFSB as the brigade’s senior contract management specialist. She is departing the 405th AFSB and moving to Fort Polk, Louisiana. Martinez was recognized for serving as the acting director of Logistics Readiness Center Stuttgart from April to October this year. Martinez also received a certificate for 10 years of federal civilian service with the Army.

    Also recognized for outstanding performance during the awards ceremony was William Wroten. He received a $250 on-the-spot award from the 405th AFSB commander for his work configuring government smart phones and issuing new equipment during a period of major network and communication transformation across the brigade.

    The 405th AFSB is assigned to U.S. Army Sustainment Command and under the operational control of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command, U.S. Army Europe and Africa. The brigade is headquartered in Kaiserslautern, Germany, and provides materiel enterprise support to U.S. Forces throughout Europe and Africa – providing theater sustainment logistics; synchronizing acquisition, logistics and technology; and leveraging the U.S. Army Materiel Command materiel enterprise to support joint forces.
