Misawa held its annual Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) kickoff at Misawa Air Base, Japan, on Oct. 18, 2021. The CFC, a 60-year federal giving tradition, has raised more than $8.5 billion for charities and people in need.

As the world's largest annual workplace charity campaign, the CFC raises money each year to support eligible non-profit organizations providing health and human services worldwide, better-improving the quality of life for those in need.

The mission is to promote and support philanthropy through an employee-focused, cost-efficient and effective program that provides all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for various communities.

"The CFC kickoff event provides unit coordinators, key workers, senior enlisted leaders and commanders a chance to discuss how to efficiently provide members of Team Misawa with the opportunity to donate," said U.S. Air Force Capt. Rafael P. Dy, 35th Fighter Wing CFC community area project officer. "Our donations impact countless lives worldwide, changing the quality of life for various individuals."

This year's theme is, "You Can Be the Face of Change," encouraging individual responsibility and participation. The donations provide life-long benefits making a direct impact on the life of individuals in need of assistance.

“Through the CFC, you have an opportunity to influence causes that you are passionate about,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Jesse J. Friedel, 35th Fighter Wing commander. “With more than 200 charities that aim to improve the quality of life for all, you can choose to donate to a variety of charities. Whether you donate a little or a lot, one person cannot save the world alone, but everyone can make a difference.”

Team Misawa can make donations from now until Jan. 15, 2022.

Individuals interested in donating can reach out to their respective unit representatives and key workers who distribute campaign materials and collect pledges, ensuring the success of this year's campaign. For more information, visit https://cfcoverseas.givecfc.org/.
