The 8th Theater Sustainment Command began fundraising in support of the Combined Federal Campaign that runs from September 2021 to January 2022. The CFC marks 60 years of partnership with military forces.

CFC permitted fundraising in the Federal workplace in 1961, in an effort to support and promote humanitarianism through a program that is cost-efficient and effective in providing Department of Defense employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all through donations.

Today, CFC is one of the most inclusive giving campaigns for DoD employees. It has more than 20,000 nonprofit charitable organizations and helps thousands of families each year.

During the CFC, 8th TSC and subordinate units can download the CFC application onto their mobile phone or download the paper pledge form from GiveCFC.org. Additionally, unit coordinators will have CFC donation slips for service members and civilians to pick up, if they choose.

“We officially have supplies for the units to pick up, such as posters, list of organizations to donate to, flyers, donation slips, donation records, and pass-out cards,” said 1st Lt. Dayton Tenney, essential personnel services officer, 8th TSC.

Tenney stated that the campaign resources over 20 thousand organizations and allows the opportunity for soldiers to provide support to communities across the nation.

Last year 8th TSC raised more than $14 thousand for CFC.

"We would love to see $15 thousand raised this year,” said Tenney. “CFC is a great campaign to utilize that allow anyone to donate to an impactful cause that they believe in."

CFC is an annual event and gives service members the opportunity to change lives.

Sgt. Jose Ariasgarcia, human resource specialist and CFC unit coordinator, stated that soldiers should donate because donations “create opportunities for others and make the world a better place."

Service members can donate to any nonprofit organization they choose. For DoD employees, donations can be made through payroll deductions, a one-time cash donation, or by check. Reservist, National Guard, and contractors can only make a one-time cash donation.

8th TSC will continue to educate and inspire all service members across Oahu, Hawaii to ensure they know that donating to CFC will help those in need. Through nonprofit fundraisers like this, 8th TSC is building strength between the military service, non-profit organizations, and families in need.
