MOSUL, Iraq — Thirty one soldiers from the 2nd Iraqi Army Division graduated from a combat life saver course hosted by U.S. Army medics in Mosul on Oct. 22.
The four day course, located at Iraqi Army Base Al Kindi, is designed to teach IA soldiers to become instructors for future combat life saver classes. The IA soldiers will take their knowledge and train additional soldiers in their units to improve first responder capabilities throughout Mosul and Ninewa province.
U.S. medics from 215th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, coached the IA soldiers on the proper way to evaluate a casualty, transport and treat a casualty, as well as how to provide first aid under fire.
The classes used hands on training in order to gain firsthand knowledge through experience.
At the end of the course each soldier received a certificate for completing the combat life saver training program.
Training events like this one assist Iraqi Security Forces in sustaining security gains made by Iraqi and U.S. Forces over the past year.
