The 90th Security Forces Group conducted tryout events for the 2021 Global Strike Challenge July 8, 2021, at 5 a.m. and ended at 6 p.m. at various locations across F.E. Warren Air Force Base. The events included a ruck run, M4 rifle proficiency tests, as well as physical tests such as pushups, pull-ups, and sit-ups.
The Global Strike Challenge pushes Airmen physically and mentally by testing military readiness and expertise. These Airmen from across the country are preparing for the competition highlighting the qualities that contribute to the Air Force’s global strike mission.
“We want to come together and show that we are the best,” 1st Lt. Lindsey Heflin, public affairs officer at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. “The best way to do that is with some healthy competition among the different wings all across Global Strike.”
Since the first Global Strike Challenge in 2010, the exercise has enhanced readiness, teamwork, esprit de corps, mission pride and a competitive spirit, according to the USAF Police Alumni Association.
“I’d love to be chosen to represent the Mighty Ninety at the Global Strike Challenge,” said Airman Tyler Hartsung, 90th Security Forces Squadron. “It would be an honor to be part of the team and show what the 90th Missile Wing is capable of.”
Once the security forces teams are organized, the competition between security forces units for Global Strike Challenge will officially take place in September 2021 at Camp Guernsey.
The Global Strike Challenge is the world’s premier bomber, ICBM, helicopter operations, and security forces competition featuring units from Air Force Global Strike Command, Air Combat Command, Air Force Reserve Command, and the Air National Guard.
