NUWC Division Keyport's, now former, Infrastructure Division Head retired from federal service June 30, after 36 years.

Glenda Wilson made her debut with the U.S. Navy in Naval Facilities Engineering Command’s Western Division professional development program in San Bruno, California, after earning a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from Texas A&M University in 1984.

“I enjoyed my career, planning and maintaining the Navy’s Infrastructure for the last almost 36 years,” Wilson, a Houston native, said. “There was always something new to solve and plan for. It never got stale. However, the people I worked with are what I’ll miss the most. Hopefully, we will see each other in town and stay connected. I wish everyone continued success.”

Wilson trained in public works management as a young engineer, and upon graduation, she accepted a position as the Work Management Branch Head for Lemoore Naval Air Station's Public Works Department. She rose through the ranks of the Public Works Department, eventually becoming the Installation Planner.

During her 14 years at Lemoore, she said one of her most notable accomplishments was her role on the management team that put together a winning bid during the A-76 study, when most installation public works departments were losing competition to contractors.

Wilson joined Keyport’s team in 2002 as the activity planner within the Facilities Branch, and was instrumental in developing the Division’s Strategic Facilities Investment Plan.

Her decades of accomplishments produced notable data listings for Keyport, including management space assignments, real estate holdings, the Military Construction - better known as MILCON - program, special project submissions, and updated iNFAD's authoritative data. She also interacted with experts at all command levels, regions, and contractors to achieve consensus and communicate objectives to meet mission requirements.

Wilson was promoted to Facilities Branch Head in 2015, where she oversaw the command's infrastructure sustainment restoration and modernization. She excelled in facility management and oversight, energy and utility management, transportation and material handling equipment service cost center, and base operation services over there.

In August 2018, she was promoted to Infrastructure Division Head, adding oversight of the safety and environmental branches to her duties. Wilson succeeded in expanding her division's capabilities to meet mission requirements, utilizing Section 233 Contracting Authority through partnerships with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Defense Logistics Agency, and local contracting avenues.

“You can ask around and young female engineers recognize how Glenda paved the way for the future,” said Angela Hocutt, NUWC Division Keyport Corporate Operations Department Head and Wilson’s former supervisor. “P-386 is Keyport’s first MILCON in 17 years, and Glenda led that effort. Her legacy forever changed the landscape at Keyport.”

Wilson is married with three adult children, all residing in Washington state. She said she looks forward to enjoying gardening, reading, rooting for the Seattle Seahawks, and spending more time with her friends and family.
