CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – Service members and Civilians in Kuwait participated in a Career Fair at the Camp Arifjan Zone 1 Gym on May 20, 2021.
The event, hosted by Area Support Group – Kuwait, provided an opportunity for people to learn about potential career paths available in Kuwait, said Briana Kramer, Area Support Group – Kuwait protocol specialist.
"Whether it is transferring from active duty to the National Guard or Reserve Component, or beginning a career as a Department of Defense Civilian or Contactor, there are opportunities here for everyone," said Kramer.
Approximately 900 service members and Civilians attended the one-day event.
The event supported the "People First" strategy of ASG-KU and U.S. Army Central, said Command Sgt. Maj. Brian Disque, ASG-KU senior enlisted advisor.
"People first is all about taking care of our Soldiers and Civilians," said Disque. "What better way to do that then to bring together all of these organizations so that our tenants can learn about the opportunities available here in Kuwait."
Representatives from approximately 20 military and civilian agencies were present to educate Soldiers and civilians about opportunities available within their organization. Subject matter experts answered questions about the hiring process, benefits and career transitioning from the given career path.
U.S. Army Sgt. Kinyatta Moore, a Bunkie, Louisiana native assigned to the 199th Brigade Support Battalion, spoke about the importance of having career fairs for professional development.
"Having a career fair is vital because it lets us see what is out there," said Moore. "There is more than just our unit, there is more than just our agency, and we all work together to help one another."
ASG-KU plans to continue to host more events like this to support its tenant organizations in achieving their personal and professional goals.
"This is about veterans supporting veterans," said Disque. "With all the information from this event, our Soldiers can then assess their personal goals and make an informed decision on their future. That is putting people first."
