MANAMA, Bahrain – Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Bahrain delivered logistics support to the Eisenhower (IKE) Carrier Strike Group (CSG) while it operated in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations (AOO) during the month of April.

NAVSUP FLC Bahrain and its mission partners completed the month-long sustainment of the IKE CSG by delivering parts, mail and food from locations in Bahrain, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.

Coordination between NAVSUP FLC Bahrain and Commander, Task Force (CTF) 53, which is responsible for logistics support to 5th Fleet, including underway replenishment by Military Sealift Command-operated ships, ensured the IKE CSG maintained mission readiness through replenishment-at-sea evolutions and a logistics port visit to Duqm, Oman.

“Our ability to provide logistics support from strategic locations within the region demonstrates our flexibility and agility,” said Capt. Timothy Griffin, commanding officer of NAVSUP FLC Bahrain. “Being able to provide this level of support globally to our mission partners is something only the U.S. and our allies can do.”

More than 775 pallets of cargo and 105,000 pounds of mail were delivered to the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), guided-missile cruiser USS Monterey (CG 61), guided-missile destroyers USS Mitscher (DDG 57), USS Thomas Hudner (DDG 116), USS Laboon (DDG 58) and USS Mahan (DDG 72), and Military Sealift Command fast-combat support ship USNS Arctic (T-AOE 8).

While in the U.S. 5th Fleet AOO, the IKE CSG operated and trained alongside regional and coalition partners and provided naval aviation support to Operation Inherent Resolve.

“Port visits, in-port replenishments and replenishments at sea are perfect examples of how we are able to provide the fleet what they need, when they need, and where they need it, “said Griffin. “That is how we support the overall mission readiness of the fleet and its forward deployed ships, aircraft and, most importantly, personnel.”

NAVSUP FLC Bahrain is one of eight FLCs under Commander, NAVSUP. Headquartered in Mechanicsburg, Penn., and employing a diverse, worldwide workforce of more than 22,500 military and civilian personnel, NAVSUP's mission is to provide supplies, services, and quality-of-life support to the Navy and joint warfighter.
