Story by Senior Airman Eugene Oliver

    501st Combat Support Wing

The 501st Combat Support Wing’s 2021 Air Force Assistance Fund is in full swing.
The AFAF is running from 15 Mar- 23 Apr with a wing wide goal of raising $9,612.
The AFAF consists of four charities that all support Airmen: Air Force Aid Society, General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation, the Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation, and the Air Force Enlisted Village.
“The Air Force Assistance Fund campaign thrives off of the idea that we are taking care of our own,” said Capt. George Marte 422d Security Forces Squadron operations officer. “This campaign provides our team members access to a variety of programs that are specifically designed to provide them more options when dealing with any challenges they come across in their lives.
These options include no cost loans, community grants, and education grants.”
During the AFAF, Key workers will be visiting workplaces within the wing to further educate, answer questions and collect donations from Airmen and civilians who would like to participate.
“The Air Force Assistance Fund provides our Airmen, Guardians, and dependents the tools to work through challenges that life may throw at them,” said SMSgt Nicholas Whitney 422d SFS superintendent. “We’ve all been in a situation where we fall short in some of the most basic necessities in our lives; whether that be short-notice emergency travel, vehicle repairs that require immediate attention, or child care for some well-deserved time off with our loved one.
This campaign aims to continuously benefit Airmen, Guardians, and their dependents in these types of situations.”
The 501st CSW has been one of the top contributors in the Air Force the last four years and #1 AF-Wide last year, for both participation and goal achievement. Let’s do our best to keep the momentum going.
For more information on each organization or how to donate please contact your squadron’s key worker, or visit www.afassistancefund.org.
