AMCOM antiterrorism program manager receives accolades

The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command’s antiterrorism program manager was recently inducted into the U.S. Army AT Honor Roll.

Josette Paschal, has been working as the AMCOM AT program manager for over 17 years.

“It’s an honor and humbling,” said Paschal. “I am very grateful of the recognition. However, I know that I didn’t get that recognition alone. I have a great team and they are part of me being efficient and effective in my role as the command’s AT program manager.”

Initially, Paschal worked as a logistics management specialist and was assigned the additional duty as an AT program manager.

“I was permanently promoted to the position in 2004. As a team Leader, I manage the AMCOM antiterrorism program by carefully analyzing and reviewing AT/protection mission requirements,” said Paschal. “I oversee the protection team by providing direction, instructions and guidance to achieve a certain goal. I conduct quarterly Protection Working Group and Protection Executive Committee meetings, ensuring leadership is kept informed of its protection posture, current projects and concerns. I provide recommendations/guidance to AMCOM and the subordinate organizations of new policy changes.”

Paschal went on to state that she interfaces globally with other services, agencies, state and local officials with planning, coordinating and executing an effective AT program.

“I serve as a member of Headquarters Army Material Command and U.S. Army Garrison – Redstone AT working groups,” said Paschal. “I provide oversight to AMCOM’s subordinates by conducting annual site visits to ensure compliance with regulatory guidance. I brief [overseas] travelers for country specific foreign threats. I review and approve the command’s contracts through the Department of the Army AT/operational security coversheet requirement.”

Last year AMCOM received recognition as the Army’s best large unit program award, under the guidance of Paschal.

“I was responsible for complying with the regulatory requirements in managing the program,” said Paschal. “Those awards are submitted from the commands to highlight their AT program accomplishments during a specific [fiscal year]. AMCOM was instrumental in accomplishing all the award criteria requirements. We went over and above those areas and [were] able to prove the achievements.”

Paschal said the recent honor is recognition of the work she and her team achieved. She added that it helps to ensure she always gives her best as she manages the program and keeps the safety of people as the No. 1 priority.

“I am thankful for the multitude of leaders and team I have who allow me to manage the program,” said Paschal. “They provide support on a daily basis. This comes from the commanding general, deputy commanding general, G-4, directorates, subordinates, and overall AT team. I don’t take this for granted.”
