    7th Army Training Command

GRAFENWOEHR, Germany— The U.S. Army Europe and Africa Sergeant Morales Club, Bavaria chapter, inducted 11 noncommissioned officers into their ranks at the 7th Army Noncommissioned Officer Academy, Camp Normandy, March 25. This was the first in-person SMC induction ceremony since August, 2020.
Eight newly-inducted noncommissioned officers (those with no other club memberships) and three honorary members (those with memberships to the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club) were inducted into the SMC Bavaria chapter.
The SMC is a U.S. Army Europe and Africa-only program created in 1973 by Lt. Gen. George S. Blanchard to promote and recognize enlisted Soldiers serving under U.S. Army Europe and Africa who demonstrate the highest ideals of integrity, professionalism, and leadership.
“You are living testaments to why the noncommissioned officer corps is so successful,” said Command Sgt. Maj. James Holmes III, commandant of the 7th Army NCOA. “Always remember who you are and why you exist. You are a noncommissioned officer, a leader and trainer of Soldiers. Courage, candor, competence, and commitment to excellence and compassion are in your DNA. You are a role model and a standard-bearer for your Soldiers. Always take charge and most of all you must live up to those standards who have come before you.”
Induction into the SMC is something of a stamp of approval, said Staff Sgt. Damario Robinson, a quality assurance provider at the 7th Army Noncommissioned Officer Academy, and new inductee into the club.
“It’s exciting to be a part of something bigger than myself,” said Robinson. “The SMC is a network of experienced NCOs that show great professionalism. These NCOs help me strive to become a better leader that I didn’t see within myself before I became a member of the club. The people that I work with, they demonstrate the highest levels of character within noncommissioned officers in the Army.”
Soldiers are nominated for SMC membership for their interest in the program, volunteer service to the community, and leadership attributes and competencies. Robinson said NCOs who are interested should apply now by talking to their brigade representative.
