FORT STEWART, Ga.— Biohaven Pharmaceuticals and Rick Ware Racing visited Fort Stewart, Georgia, as part of their Military Salutes program on March 22.

The Military Salutes program is Biohaven Pharmaceuticals and RWR’s goal to visit 50 military installations and spread awareness of migraines during the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series.

Fort Stewart is the tenth military installation that Biohaven Pharmaceuticals and RWR have visited this year.

“It’s our way to give back to the military community that has done so much for the nation as a whole,” said Greg Hake, director of corporate operations with Biohaven Pharmaceuticals. “We try to educate the military community about Nurtec Orally Dissolving Tablet, and the benefits that it can provide because we are on the Tricare formulary.”

Hake added that the opportunity to visit the military installations is very important to him because he was a prior service member.

“We are super thankful that Biohaven Pharmaceuticals is so pro-military,” said Garrett Smithley, No. 53 NASCAR driver with RWR. “It's always a blessing to come out to these military bases, see what our heroes do and to have fun with them.”

According to the World Health Organization, headache disorders are among the most common nervous system disorders. Globally, it has been estimated that among 50% of adults suffer from headache disorders.

“Nurtec ODT is a medication for the acute treatment of migraines,” said Adrienne LeBlanc, a neuroscience specialist with Biohaven Pharmaceuticals. “It’s wonderful now that we have a treatment option like Nurtec ODT, and it's covered by Tricare and Tricare Prime.”

According to Mr. Ronald W Wolf’s article, migraines may be associated with injuries mild traumatic brain injury as a result of vehicle accident, military training or combat.

Over 300,000 Soldiers have suffered traumatic brain injuries after returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, according to the Wounded Warrior Project.

The Army’s People First strategy is committed to improving quality of life, which includes world-class healthcare for Soldiers and their Families. “We have an obligation to provide our people with the quality of life benefits commensurate with their quality of service” said Army Chief of Staff Gen. James C. McConville.

McConville added that the highest quality of life is essential for our Soldiers to be able to build successful careers and lives in the Army.
