JORDAN – While mobilized to Jordan, the 75th Field Artillery Battalion from Fort Sill, Oklahoma, had the opportunity to lead an exercise called Decisive Spear.

“Decisive Spear is a bilateral field artillery exercise between the 75th FAB, Task Force Spartan, Jordanian Armed Forces and the U.S. Air Force,” said First Lt. Vladimir Yegorov, an artillery officer with Task Force Spartan.

This exercise brought together Soldiers and Airmen from both countries to work together in the planning process.

“Before the exercise begun, we worked on the military decision-making process with the JAF,” said Maj. Matthew Wolverton, the 75th FAB’s Information Officer.

“This exercise had some important points,” said a Major with the Jordanian Army, “firstly the exchange of experience between the Jordanian side and the American side.”

This experience was partially exchanged during the planning phase when U.S. forces would plan with their mirror counterparts whom they first met at the opening ceremony of the exercise.

“On behalf of my name, I welcome all of you to Jordan,” said JAF Col. Rade A. Al Ajarmeh, “I hope we will work as one organized cell in an outstanding shape and execution in this exercise and that we may ensure further cooperation.”

The opening ceremony of the event was presided over by U.S. Army Col. Andrew Caliendo of Task Force Spartan and Brig. General Hatem Al-Zoubi of the Jordanian Armed Forces.

“I would like to thank Col. Caliendo and his staff for providing this opportunity,” said Al-Zoubi.

The exercise officially begins on Sep. 27, 2020, though the joint planning process has taken place over the past week.

“This exercise is an opportunity to train together and exchange valuable information,” said Caliendo.
