    Joint Multinational Readiness Center

HOHENFELS, Germany - There is no time for sightseeing in Bavaria for the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade this week during Combined Resolve XIV today through Sept. 29 at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center’s Hohenfels Training Area.

The brigade’s more than a dozen UH-60 Blackhawks are constantly humming through the air fulfilling requests for movement of personnel and cargo. The crews are also always ready to perform a medical evacuation anywhere in the huge 40,000-acre training area.

Capt. Lawrence Massengil is the commander of the Blackhawk helicopter Alpha 6-101. It’s here for the week to support the 101 st CAB as it assists the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, during its ongoing assessment and evaluation.

“We’re prepared and trained for our key upcoming events,” said Massengil, of Ripley, Mississippi.. “The last few days have focused entirely on preparation, but now we're going to get some good training going.”

The other crew members of Alpha 6-10 include 1st Lt. Domanic Stoesser and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Dave Tyo, who are responsible for the communication equipment. Sgt. Eric Jenkins, the crew chief for most flights, checks every pre-flight detail and keep a timely flight schedule. Pfc. Tyrone Bennett, the safety Soldier, ensures the safety of all the Soldiers taking orientation flights during Combined Resolve XIV.

The 101st Combat Aviation Brigade will remain in Germany in support of Combined Resolve XIV through the end of September. In addition to assessing and evaluating the 2nd ABCT, the exercise is set to promote regional stability while simultaneously increasing readiness, strengthening partner capabilities and fostering trust. This combined training opportunity greatly improves interoperability among the eight participating allies and partners.
