HOHENFELS, Germany – The U.S. Army Health Clinic- Hohenfels welcomed Lt. Col. Laura Jeffrey as its new commander. While this is Jeffrey's first-time taking command of an entire clinic, she has spent many years in leadership positions that has given her the experience and knowledge she needs to take on this new challenge.

Jeffrey started her career in 1992 as a combat medic and spent the next several years getting mentored and trained by her peers and leaders. She went on to get her nursing degree in 2001 from Columbus University and subsequently joined the officer ranks in 2002.

“The experience from all levels, working as a private and working my way up, through different tasks and missions, will help me move forward with this command,” stated Jeffery.

With COVID-19 being a prominent part of our day-to-day lives there can be many challenges a new commander might face. Jeffrey says her and her team will be working hard to accomplish the mission together to the best of their ability.

“I think some of the biggest challenges will be making sure people practice their social distancing and not letting up on their guard to help with prevention especially with fall soon approaching,” said Jeffrey.

This is Jeffrey's first tour in Germany, and she could not be happier to be a part of the team and the community at Hohenfels.

“Hohenfels is a very unique and supportive community and I am so happy to be here,” Jeffrey said.

Jeffrey has already begun working with her team to communicate with patients and peers alike. The clinic welcomed her as a new leader and the community looks forward to the outstanding care from its local health team.

“I plan on continuing to provide the education, resources and support needed to complete the mission for the community and make sure everyone is staying safe and healthy,” Jeffrey said.
