BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Staff Sgt. Todd Wood, a native of Warren, Michigan, is serving in Battle Creek as part of the Department of Defense’s response to COVID-19, which is being led by U.S. Northern Command.
As an administration specialist with the 46th Military Police Command, Wood manages the administrative, pay, records, and purchasing requirements for the unit that comprises the headquarters element for U.S. Army North’s Task Force Center. Task Force Center is the division-level headquarters responsible for the command and control of the active duty Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines supporting the COVID-19 response mission through 15 states in the central United States.
“Protecting the American people, preventing the spread of COVID-19, and killing the virus is our main mission,” said Maj. Gen. Michael Stone, Commanding General, Task Force Center. “The Task Force brings the Department of Defense’s highly-trained professionals and experts to support the civilian authorities throughout our regions.”
“I’m privileged to be in the right place to help out at the right time to do my part,” says Wood. “Something this big is something you’re always preparing for and ready to tackle, even though you hope it never happens.”
Wood, a 14-year Army veteran, is a 2004 graduate of Warren Lincoln Senior High School. His career has included a Bachelor’s Degree from Central Michigan University and a deployment in support of Operation New Dawn before accepting an active-duty role with the 46th Military Police Command.
