HOHENFELS, Germany- U.S. Army National Guard Pfc. Jade Campbell is a 68w combat medic assigned to 148th Charlie Company out of Macon, Georgia. This will be his first two weeks of annual training because of the Recruit Sustainment Program he was attending. He was enlisted in August 17, 2019 and is providing medical coverage to his first KFOR exercise at Hohenfels Training Center on March 4, 2020.

“With this being my first KFOR exercise I absolutely was not ready to see Soldiers deliberately walk through fire,” said Campbell. “The training was teaching them not to not be afraid of fire, and it was the medics job to provide medical coverage if needed.”

Campbell originally wanting to go active duty, but he decided to go to the National Guard where he was offered the option of combat medic which worked with his schedule so he could successfully be a Soldier and a civilian.

“I was already in the medical field I use to be a patient care technician so combat medic was just ideal to me and when I got in I killed it, and now I’m here,” said Campbell.

He added that the National Guard has truly brought him more than just technical expertise but also life skills to be passed on.

“The number one skill the National Guard has given me is patience and team work, “said Campbell.

Campbell strongly encourages those who have thought about joining the National Guard not to hesitate.

“My advice will be don’t wait too long to do just do it and to get out of your comfort zone and experience different things so you can learn different things," stated Campbell.
