GREAT LAKES, Ill. (March 2, 2020) – Center for Surface Combat Systems Unit (CSCSU) Great Lakes recognized the outstanding performance of two of its top-performing Sailors this week, highlighting their outstanding achievements as military instructors, and advancing them to the next higher paygrade Mar. 2.

CSCSU Great Lakes’ Commanding Officer Capt. Ricardo Enriquez took great pleasure in advancing Boatswain’s Mate (BM) 2nd Class Brittany Parker and Electronics Technician (ET) 2nd Class El Don Jackson to first class petty officers utilizing the Meritorious Advancement Program (MAP).

"Advancing Sailors is one of the best actions a commanding officer can do for their Sailors," Enriquez said. “Their hard work and dedication is rewarded through programs such as MAP, in which Sailors are advanced to the paygrade at which they are performing. Petty Officer Parker and Petty Officer Jackson have done an incredible job to stand out amongst their peers and truly deserve this very special recognition.”

Parker is serving as BM “A” School instructor and was selected as Fiscal Year 2019 Naval Education Training Center Junior Instructor of the Year. Jackson is serving as ET “A” School instructor and was selected as Fiscal Year 2019 CSCSU Great Lakes Junior Sailor of the Year. Also taken into account in their advancement were the Sailors’ active involvement toward program improvements within the command and volunteer efforts in the local community

“The Meritorious Advancement Program is an invaluable tool that encourages deckplate leadership to recognize the most experienced and proficient of our Sailors whom are ready for higher levels of responsibility. It is one more mentorship practice helping to identify our future leaders.” Said CSCSU Great Lakes Senior Enlisted Leader, Senior Chief Fire Controlman Aegis Gabriel De La Paz.
