Story by Tech. Sgt. Nicholas Kibbey

    1st Combat Camera Squadron

Mind, body and soul are the cornerstones of resilience and a key aspect of personal resilience is balancing your work and off duty life.
With your off time there is a way to have fun and save some money through what Cory Jugas, a recreation aid at the 452nd Force Support Squadron’s Outdoor Recreation, calls recreational resilience.
“Outdoor Recreation provides a means for military members, their dependents, veterans and civilian government employees to go out on trips and accomplish activities that they’ve always wanted to do or that may be on their bucket list,” said Jugas. “Some activities push you out of your comfort zone and you can do them through us with the convenience of being located on March Air Reserve Base and at a discounted price.”
Popular activities that can be booked at Outdoor Recreation include skydiving, white water rafting, kayaking, skiing, snowboarding, and hang gliding. Not all activities require a bit of bravery. Outdoor Recreation offers sports and outdoor equipment rentals, family camp (FAMCAMP) services, RV storage, outdoor adventure trips, and discounted tickets to theme parks and tours.
“I really wish more people knew what we have to offer,” said Jugas. “There are many people who’ve never stepped foot in our office, and when they do they always wished they’d known about it sooner.”
For one Airman who has known about Outdoor Recreation, he has been a repeat customer due to their outstanding services and discounts.
“I think Outdoor Recreation is great,” says Tech. Sgt. Rodell Martinez, an aircrew flight equipment technician assigned to the 452nd Operations Support Squadron. “I usually purchase annual theme park passes each year and rent ski equipment during the winter season beacuase the prices can’t be beat by anyone off base.”
