Senior Airman Shandra Ellis always wanted to be a part of the Air Force. Since she enlisted in Michigan Air National Guard and the 127th Wing four years ago, she’s gained benefits and opportunities to become more educated, network globally and to constantly set the bar higher for herself.
“[Being in the Michigan National Guard] has helped me grow as a person by teaching me to humble myself,” Ellis said. “In order to grow, I have to be willing to learn, and take the good with the bad.”
As a transportation packer with the 127th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Ellis works to support missions by shipping cargo, certifying and addressing inquiries for Traffic Management Operations. shipping of supplies and freight and, most importantly, shipping people.
“I love that my job provides me with the opportunity to communicate and network with Airmen within Selfridge... as well as globally,” Ellis said.
Outside of work, Ellis enjoys both the sport of hunting, being outdoors and travelling.
“I love to fly the friendly skies… it helps me to relax and escape life’s daily demands and deadlines,” Ellis said.
When asked if she thinks being in the Guard has changed her, she said it "absolutely" has.
“It has helped me set a high standard for myself, because if I don’t set the bar to, ‘Overachiever,’ I cannot provide the #excellence that is expected of me in all I do.”
