Isabella couldn’t wait any longer to join her parents once the New Year and new decade began.
Isabella arrived 23 minutes into January 1, 2020, as the first baby born in the New Year at Naval Hospital Bremerton’s Northwest Beginnings Family Birth Center.
Proud parents Machinist Mate 1st Class Jamie Spencer and Machinist Mate 2nd Class Nilantonio Echevarriadiaz welcomed the birth of Isabella, who weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces.
“We got here earlier at 10 p.m., went back home, and then returned at 11:40 p.m., which was good timing because she arrived soon after,” said Echevarriadiaz, assigned to USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70).
Both mother and baby are doing well with Isabella now a younger sister to 8-year old Jacqueline.
“Jacqueline is vacillating between excitement and having to share,” exclaimed Spencer, of Trident Refit Facility Bangor.
The staff at Northwest Beginnings Family Birth Center were busy providing support for new parents throughout December. There were 44 new babies in the final month of 2018.
“The staff here has really been great,” stated Spencer.
“From the beginning up to the end everyone has been helpful,” echoed Echevarriadiaz.
Echevarria-Diaz’s mother has also on hand for the delivery, arriving from Puerto Rico.
“As soon as I found out, I was coming up. Family is very important,” shared Edda Echevarria.
Isabella followed the 498 recorded births in 2019 at Naval Hospital Bremerton, an average of approximately 42 per month.
