Behind every skilled Airman, there is a force development manager making sure they have the best, most current training available. For the Explosive Ordnance Disposal career field, Senior Master Sgt. Robert D. Krumlinde, EOD Force Development manager, Air Force Civil Engineer Center, takes that responsibility to heart and does all he can to provide the Air Force with a lethal and ready force.
“Training is how we deliver our capabilities to the combatant commander,” Krumlinde said. “It keeps our troops safe in the combat zones and throughout all emergency responses here at home.”
Krumlinde’s dedication to the career field was recognized recently when he was selected as this year’s Staff level, EOD Master Blaster. The award recognizes EOD professionals based on their achievements and contributions to unit, installation, command and Air Force-level programs.
“The nominations are always great, which makes it hard to choose a Master Blaster,” said Chief Master Sgt. Edward Lockhart, EOD program manager at the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center. “However, Krumlinde’s activities demonstrated that he had a positive affect across the spectrum of the services’ OT&E [Organize, Train and Equip] responsibilities, which made him stand out above the rest.”
Lockhart, who was on a review panel for the annual award said those contributions included spearheading the coordination of all curriculum across all three Silver Flag sites, reviewing and streamlining the career field education and training plan, which resulted in better trained EOD personnel in less time, and helped in the purchasing and expedited delivery of 315 robotic systems to Airmen across the globe.
“These accomplishments affect the entire Air Force EOD program at the tactical, operational and strategic level,” Lockhart said. “Which is why he was chosen for the Staff level award.”
Krumlinde says he’s honored to have been recognized as one of this year’s Master Blasters.
“It’s actually very humbling to hear my efforts are making a difference both with training Airmen and making sure they have the equipment they need, “Krumlinde said. “I have 1,600 Airmen relying on me to get it right.”
Winners of the other Master Blaster categories are Master Sgt. James M. Joiner, 56th Civil Engineer Squadron, Staff Noncommissioned Officer category; Tech. Sgt. Jacqueline M. Risley, 4th Civil Engineer Squadron, NCO category; and Senior Airman Robert L. Frey, 49th Civil Engineer Squadron, Airman category.
