    Story by Ron Mullan

    72nd Air Base Wing

Colonel Matthew Lewin assumed command of the 76th Commodities Maintenance Group from Col. James Petrick in a change of command ceremony held July 22 in the Assembly Room in Bldg. 9001. Brigadier General Chris Hill, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex commander was the presiding officer.
General Hill noted that the pool for leaders seems bottomless and when one leader departs another is waiting to step-up to the challenge.
“Today we are fortunate to welcome Col. Matt Lewin to our team,” said Hill. “He comes to us from the Defense Advanced Research Program Agency, and brings a diverse background of aircraft maintenance and lifecycle logistics experience. He is a graduate of the Air Force School of Advanced Airpower Studies.”
Hill charged Lewin “…to lead this unit with all of your intellect, compassion and humility. I believe that you will do great work and I fully expect the performance of the unit to continue to improve.”
Following the exchange of the unit guidon, Lewin addressed the men and women of the 76th CMXG.
“I look forward to serving you and this mission. I will diligently work to knock down barriers and remove constraints, so you can continue the critical task of repairing, replacing and upgrading the heart and soul of our nation’s combat airpower. I stand before you today, ready to get to work on your behalf.”
After being awarded the Legion of Merit, Col. Petrick took time to highlight some of the unit’s accomplishments as he addressed the members of his unit for the last time.
“Over the last several years, the 2,000 men and women of the CMXG have overcome industrial parts constraints, government shutdown, adverse weather and equipment limitations to produce 209,000 Management of Items Subject To Repair and non-MISTR units supporting 76 percent of the Air Force inventory. You generated $1.3 billion in revenue and completely redefined your strategic goals. CMXG you rock!”
