ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. - “I, Alicia Elan Bryant, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

With her right hand raised, Bryant repeated the oath of commissioned officers as recited by Maj. Gen. Mitchell Kilgo, commanding general of the Army’s Communications and Electronics Command and senior commander on Aberdeen Proving Ground, during a Dec. 5 ceremony held in the headquarters atrium of the 20th CBRNE Command. Bryant is the Chief, Knowledge Management, for the command.

“This is a great day for the Soldiers and civilians of the 20th,” said Kilgo as he highlighted key moments in Bryant’s career including serving together in U.S. Central Command in Tampa, Florida. More than 80 people joined Kilgo and the leadership of the 20th to congratulate Bryant on her promotion. He noted that family was important for any promotion and Kilgo shared a special moment with Bryant’s husband, retired U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Dan Bryant, and their four children.

“God is good” said Bryant in her brief remarks to friends and colleagues.

Bryant, a native of Rockledge, Florida, is a broadcasting and radio and television graduate from the University of Central Florida. After graduation, she worked for ESPN for three years on a variety of programs. Her biography noted that she was inspired to serve following the events of 9/11 and was commissioned as a chemical officer via Officers Candidate School in 2003. Her awards and decorations include the Bronze Star and Defense Meritorious Service Medal.
