VILSECK, Germany – The U.S. Army Health Clinic Vilseck hosted a Host Nation Provider Appreciation Luncheon honoring its host nation medical providers within its community, Sept. 20, 2019.

Over 30 host nation medical providers from the areas of Vilseck, Weiden, Amberg and Sulzbach-Rosenberg attended the event. Medical providers from the 2nd Cavalry Regiment and the 18th Military Police Brigade were also in attendance at the luncheon.

The event included a catered lunch, a briefing on International SOS, a tour of the clinic facility, and concluded with a cake cutting ceremony and provider recognitions.

"The purpose of the host nation provider appreciation luncheon is to thank our host nation medical providers and support staff, for their continued support and contributions to keeping our soldiers and families ready," said Lt. Col. Colleen Cooper, USAHC Vilseck commander.

According to Cooper, since USAHC Vilseck is only an outpatient clinic, all specialty care has to be referred to host nation partner medical providers or to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.

Hosting events like the host nation appreciation luncheon is very important to the clinic.

"It is incredibly important to foster a productive relationship with our host nation providers," said Cooper. "Without their support, we can't provide full spectrum care to our soldiers and families.”
