Chièvres, Belgium -- The U.S. Army Benelux communities Benelux held Retiree Appreciation Day activities in Schinnen and SHAPE Oct. 18-19, 2019.
The USAG Benelux Directorate of Human Resources had planned those days to gather military retirees and their families, to demonstrate their continuing gratitude to the Military Retirees for their service to the nation.
After introductory remarks by the command team, retirees had an opportunity to take advantage of the various services and activities offered to them. They were able to get medical checkups, flu shots and to receive other services from organizations such as Defense Finance and Accounting Services, Veterans Affairs and Army and Air Force Exchange Service, local veterans groups.
These events provided a great opportunity for the military retirees to renew acquaintances. “We received a lot of positive feedback from all of the retirees who attended today. They were very appreciative of the services provided, but most importantly they were grateful to have the occasion to visit with their comrades,” said Ron Macauley, RAD-event organizer in Schinnen.
