NMCSD Honors SOQs, BJOYs

SAN DIEGO – Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) honored the Sailors of the Quarter (SOQ) and Bluejackets of the Quarter (BJOY) for the 4th quarter during a ceremony held in the hospital’s executive dining room Oct. 24.
The luncheon was hosted by the San Diego Navy League to recognize NMCSD Sailors who demonstrated outstanding performance as Sailors and role models who displayed the Navy's Core Values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment.
The awardees are Hospital Corpsman 1st Class Daniel Eskenazi, Senior Sailor of the Quarter, Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Andres Aquino, Sailor of the Quarter, Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Kacy Capra, Junior Sailor of the Quarter, and Hospitalman Cecilia Arredondo, Blue Jacket of the Quarter.
“I did my best to represent the Sailors in my directorate who work so hard to help make this hospital run,” said Eskenazi. “It feels good to be recognized and represent the best of the best this quarter.”
During the ceremony, each honoree received plaques and certificates from the command rewarding their hard work and dedication to the Navy and the Sailors they lead. The San Diego Navy League sponsored the luncheon and presented Sailors with gift cards and coins in appreciation for their service.
"It is great to see such a motivated group," said Capt. Bradford Smith, NMCSD's commanding officer. "These Sailors represent incredible talent. I appreciate the hard work they do and look forward to watching them as they continue to excel and move the organization forward."
Representatives from each of the winning Sailors’ chain of command reflected on the actions and attitudes of their respective SOQs, who were congratulated by command leadership.
“It is such an honor to be recognized by my chain of command,” said Capra. “I plan on taking all of the skills I have learned here into the Fleet Marine Force.”
