    652nd Regional Support Group

Julia Kapczynski may still be an infant, but she has a town and an Army of people supporting her.
U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers from the 652nd Regional Support Group out of Helena, Montana, joined various other active Army, National Guard and Reserve units from Powidz Air Base,to run a race supporting Julia October 20 in the town square in Powidz, Poland.
Julia suffers from numerous health and development issues. Hundreds of people from the town of Powidz and the Powidz Air Base came out to participate in the race, and cheer runners on, the proceeds of which benefitted Julia, her rehabilitative efforts and related medical costs.
“We are very grateful and touched that there are so many people who would like to help,” Julia’s mother, Katarzyna Kapczynski, said.
“We didn’t expect that so many people would like to help, who don’t personally know Julia. They are so grateful to the Soldiers from America who took part and are so involved in this event.”
The race cost about $10 to enter, and participants from the 652nd raised about $325 for Julia. The 652nd’s top finisher was Maj. Gustavo Brown, of Casper, Wyoming, with a time of 20:09, followed closely by Spc. Colton Smith, with a time of 21:17, placing both in the top 15 overall finishers.
“Running the race was an awesome feeling,” Smith said.
“Seeing all the people show up for someone going through a rough time showed there is a lot of good here in Powidz. I applaud everyone who participated and donated to this event, and I hope nothing but the best for Julia and her family.”
