Team Seymour held a Comprehensive Airman Fitness Day, Oct. 18, 2019, at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina.
Airmen from the 4th Fighter Wing participated in a formation run and held several events across the installation to focus on the four pillars of CAF.
CAF encompasses the aspects of their health, which includes mental, spiritual, physical and emotional health. Maintaining these pillars allows them to be more resilient to the challenges the military can bring.
“The purpose of this CAF day was to provide an opportunity for the wing to come together and connect through different activities and events,” said Michelle Tufano, 4th Fighter Wing community support coordinator. “The events for the day were designed to focus on all of the pillars for Comprehensive Airman Fitness.”
The Warrior Games had teams work together to fortify each member’s overall health.
“My favorite part about CAF day is just having that day, wing wide, to stand down and reset,” said Airman First Class Brandon Boozer, 4th Force Support Squadron career development apprentice. “It also allows us the opportunity to get together and recoup from doing what we do day in and day out.”
During CAF Day participants were able to compete in volleyball, axe throwing, an escape room and other events meant to enhance their resilience. Following the games, attendees had the opportunity to join a club during the Make It Better event.
Winners from each event were announced and recognized at the conclusion of the day.
“I believe the day was a success,” Tufano said. “We saw a lot of teamwork and cheering on teams and people connecting and socializing.”
The next CAF day is set to take place on April 10, 2020. For more information on Comprehensive Airman Fitness, visit the Air Force Portal and click on the CAF icon tab, on the main page.
