97 CES Concludes Fire Prevention Week with Parade

97th Air Mobility Wing

For Fire Prevention Week this year, the 97th Civil Engineer Squadron ended its festivities with a parade through base housing and an open house at the Fire Station, Sept. 28, at Altus Air Force Base, Okla. Fire Prevention Week is held annually to promote fire safety through interactive activities and demonstrations. The 2019 theme is “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape – Plan and Practice Your Escape!” which recognizes the everyday people who motivate their households to develop and practice a fire escape plan. Throughout the week, the 97th CES hosted many events that supported and educated the 97th Air Mobility Wing about the importance of fire safety. Some of these events included a bowling tournament, visit to the CDC, live fire demonstrations, friendly squadron competitions and a fire muster. The week’s festivities concluded with the Fire Department parading through base housing in their trucks, later opening the Fire Station up to everyone for an open house. All of these events educate Airmen and their families about the importance of fire prevention, keeping Mobility’s Hometown safe and prepared.
