U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Randy Kwiatkowski, Third Air Force command chief, visited RAF Mildenhall England, Sept. 13, 2019.

The new command chief met and spoke with Airmen about concepts related to mindfulness, time management, responsibilities to the mission and resiliency amongst other topics.

“RAF Mildenhall is an outstanding installation and it was such a great opportunity to learn what our Airmen are executing here day in and day out,” Kwiatkowski said. “Their impact reaches not only Europe and Africa, but stretches to all four corners of the globe and they continue to prove how vital the preeminent air refueling wing in this area of responsibility is to the overall Air Force mission.”

During the visit, Kwiatkowski was exposed to the capabilities of the 100th Communications Squadron mission defense team, the 100th Logistics Readiness Squadron’s vehicle maintenance operations as well as visiting with the 100th Force Support Squadron and their impact on Airmen and family readiness every day.

He also toured the 100th Maintenance Group mission ready aircraft ground equipment technician score concept, met with flight-line technicians and met with the 351st Air Refueling Squadron to learn about squadron capabilities. Kwiatkowski also met with the 352nd Special Operations Wing to discuss CV-22 Osprey & MC-130 J Commando II mission sets and their importance to the overall USAFE mission.

“The teams we’ve built across RAF Mildenhall are imperative to the overall mission across Europe and Africa,” Kwiatkowski stated. “As a strategic forward base, RAF Mildenhall’s mission is critical to our operational and strategic objectives in Europe. Our tankers are able to keep ‘birds’ in the sky and deter our adversaries, day or night.

“And as such, our 352nd SOW is able to reach austere positions when they are called upon and ensure that our allied partners feel secured and can trust on us to get the job done.”

A major theme of Kwiatkowski’s visit was to speak on suicide awareness and the how creating a culture of unity can ensure Airmen are taken care of each day.

“Creating a culture of togetherness starts with genuine leadership,” Kwiatkowski said. “It’s making sure that were putting a hand on each other’s shoulder, checking in on each other with the understanding that were all important to the mission and to remind everyone that you’re not alone. The Air Force is a family and we’ll always have each other’s back.”
Chief Master Sgt. Cesar Flores, 100th Operations Group superintendent, stated how important it is for leadership to visit installations.

“It is vital for our Airmen to have higher leadership visit with them and remind them of their importance to the mission,” Flores remarked. “Every day, whether it’s the 100th ARW or 352nd SOW, we are ready to project airpower through unrivaled air refueling in both Europe and Africa. We are tasked to extend and reach and deter adversaries on every mission and our warrior minded Airmen always get the job done.”
