180th Fighter Wing Ohio National Guard

(Swanton, Ohio) – More than 40 Airmen from the Ohio National Guard’s 180th Fighter Wing and the 179 Airlift Wing, traveled to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska for training, Aug. 24, 2019, to participate in annual training missions, focused on keeping troops ready for service at home and abroad.
180FW Medical Group organized the opportunity for Airmen to take part in training as part of the requirements of the Comprehensive Medical Readiness Program. The CMRP ensures medical personnel are trained for their specific specialties and missions across all Air Force military medical operations.
“The team is here to get the full spectrum of training that only an active duty base can offer,” said medical officer-in-charge Lt. Col. Kyle Erford. “We are also helping to meet the needs of the active duty Air Force as the hospital needs the extra hands as it is a transition period for active duty medical personnel changing bases. The networking and sharing of ideas is also extremely beneficial to everyone.”
Service members from command post, public affairs, vehicle maintenance and the force sustainment squadron are also participating in the annual training initiative at the base outside of Anchorage, Alaska to enhance their skills in their respective career fields.
