    1st Cavalry Division Sustainment Brigade

Fort Hood, TEXAS – 1st Cavalry Division Sustainment Brigade, “Wagonmasters,” farewell one leader to welcome another during a change of command ceremony on Fort Hood’s Cooper Field, August 9, 2019.

Col. Steven N. Carrozza, outgoing commander, led the brigade for two years sustaining the division as the ‘unit of action’ in large-scale combat operations and Defense Support of Civil Authorities for Army North Command. Carozza led Wagonmaster Soldiers, worldwide, supporting operations in every Geographical Combatant Command.

“If you can’t tell already, these Troopers have made me proud each and every day, enabling this great division to be the best, most lethal force in the world today,” Carozza said.

He signaled the First Team’s “tremendous” environment fostered by the 1st Calvary Division Commanding General, Maj. Gen. Paul T. Calvert, as the driving force to train in ways “very few other Sustainment Brigades will ever experience.”

“These opportunities allowed the Troopers we see before us today to showcase their skills, talents and abilities to the Division and the broader Army,” Carozza said. “Showing the community what can truly be accomplished within the tactical sustainment force in support of large-scale operations.”

Calvert spoke highly of the Wagonmaster Brigade calling it the “Heart of the Division."

Carozza thanked the brigade’s partner community leaders from Belton, the Fort Hood community and Family and friends during the ceremony. He closed with a welcome to incoming commander, Col. Patrick A. Disney.

“It’s one hell of a ride. Enjoy and know that these are some of the best Sustainment Troopers in the Army today,” Carozza said.

Disney, 1st. Cav. Div. Sust. Bde. commander, took command with a message to the Wagonmaster Brigade.

“Wagonmasters, let’s write our next chapter in history together as a team,” Disney said. “Living our legends and marking it with excellence as we own and dominate the sustainment warfighting function for the 1st Cavalry Division.”
